I have been a professional Genealogist for most of my life. This field led me to jobs in the legal arena. However I have a great love for the outdoors, exploring, traveling, etc... and, therefore, decided to combine this love with my present knowledge and past experiences by majoring in Environmental Science. I hope to eventually acquire a doctorate in this field or a similar discipline such as Geology or Hydrogeology.

I agree!
I just want to say, obviously, my last name is not Croft - I just listed that for fun and because that's what my college friends nicknamed me. This is due to my first name being Lora and due to my love for exploring, traveling and antiquities.

Oh yeah, I forgot to answer your question regarding hydrogeology. "It is the area of geology that deals with the distribution and movement of groundwater in the soil and rocks of the Earth's crust." So in other words, geology deals with the earth (rocks, minerals, etc...) and hydrology has to do with natural water sources in all forms. Hydrogeologist combines the study of earth and water as they relate to one another. You asked what got me interested? Well, I think I was born interested. I have been fascinated with nature since a child. My favorite pass-time wasn't playing with dolls like most little girls, instead I loved exploring the outdoors and building miniature cities in the dirt, LOL. Funny huh? I'm never happier than when I'm in nature and exploring new places.

Your job sounds interesting. Do you enjoy doing what you do? That's more important than anything, in my opinion. I think monetary reward should be secondary.

Hi Jim,

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. With the holidays coming up, I have been super busy.

I was able to see the link you sent regarding Morgantown, WV; but, I didn't see any link to pictures of Hawaii. That was a really nice clip of Morgantown - I never saw that before. No doubt that any pictures of Hawaii will be breath-taking indeed!

Out of most areas of WV, Morgantown is probably the nicest. This is only because it is the most civilized area. The rest of the state is much more rural - that probably doesn't seem possible; but, believe me it is true. That's why the WV state motto is "Wild, Wonderful, West Virginia." Even though the state is beautiful, there isn't nearly as much to do as most states I've visited. There are other reasons why I don't like this state very much, even though I was mostly raised here. I'll save these reasons for a later time, perhaps.

Well, I have terrific news.....drum roll please..... I just found out that I made the University Dean's Honor List for 2008!!! WOOHOO!!! I am, supposedly, in the top 10% of my class. Cool huh? I'm so excited!!!

Do you do anything special for Christmas? On one hand I can hardly wait for Christmas to get here, because I'm anxious to give people their presents, and to visit with family and friends I don't get to see very often. But, on the other hand I want it to take its time getting here, because it will mean I am that much closer to my school break being over, UGH! I suppose I just want the fun to last, he, he..... I'm just a big kid at heart. LOL

Well, in case I don't get a chance to say it later, I hope you have a wonderful Holiday!

Thank you so much for your kind words Lora. I sell it on my blog, it helps me to relax when I create something beautiful. I have noticed on your blog that you do genealogy. I worked on my family tree for over 16 years. Traced my moms line back to the 1400 in Lauscha, German, and dads lines back to the 1700's in Italy and the Netherlands. Loved doing it. Sometimes I thought about doing it as a career, but didn't. Hope to hear from you again. Miiram
