Greece is known in the modern era as a little problem :)
A little problem in the EU, a little problem for Turkey, a little problem for the U.S., a little problem in the Balkans, a little problem in NATO and the line is endless.
It is true that through the 20th century, Greece tried to achieve what other western countries achieved in the past five centuries. Not very fair competition ...
After our last barrier, the dictatorship between 1967-1974, our country enjoys its longest peace period with democratic governments and economic development inside & outside Greece.
Our two main markets are the shipping & tourism industries.
Greece is by far the world leader in shipping, controlling 20% (give or take) of the world's fleet. This is a major contributor to national economy and also a tool into international politics.
Tourism is a smaller number, but accounts for the 20% of GDP.
So, appart from kebabs, olive oil and sandy beaches, we are proud to excell in the nautical world as in hospitality services too.
Local population is 11million and annual visitors estimated at 14million.
Good Morning George,
We will have to figure something out. Who knows what we could come up with. Next time you see Mr. Bush, tell him hello from a fellow Texan. Thank you for adding me as your friend. I hope you have a great day.
